Characters Ceph v.1
Ceph(a)

Ceph isn't very happy with her life right now. She's lived all her life on a dying and eventually deserted planet, underground with not much company except for the computers and maintanence robots. As it is, she's not much of a people person, and she has very little patience for fools. Even more than that, she hates to be made a fool of, and getting turned out of the collective and sent back down the evolutionary chain hasn't done much to improve her disposition. Her brother does even less for her disposition...

Ceph(us)

A revived version of Ceph (probably from near our time) and shamelessly human. He doesn't quite understand why he's been revived into an age where he seems obsolete (and he refuses to acknowledge it anyway), but that's not going to stop him from making the most his new life. He has some memories of his old life, but he hasn't bothered to dwell on what he's lost...he's simply determined to find it again. Being a shameless hedonist, finding a new life probably means discovering the secret planet on the milk-fed boys, or something like that.

The Ship

Not really a ship, but that's sort of what it has become. It's actually the original alien that created Ceph. You could say that Ceph is only a small part of it, just as it is only a small part of its "collective." At this point it's mainly concerned with the well being of it's occupants (children, appendages?) and it's pretty easygoing. The ship doesn't seem to have any plans other than taking the Cephs wherever they want to go. It seems to have picked up a few human traits itself, but ship assures me that, "Baby, I can quit anytime!"

Other Characters
The Robots

The common maintenance robots still on Earth. They were probably left behind because they're so useless. They've been given just enough AI to make them troublesome and they have the mentalities of five year olds. They're a little too prone to malfunction and cause havoc, so it makes you wonder how much the humans cared about preserving their dead homeworld.

The Collective

This is Ceph's race, and what she hoped to go back to. The main colony floats around together in space, but seeing as they're one mind no matter where they go, it doesn't really matter whether they're together or not. So why was Ceph so upset when she had to leave? Because as a human she can't fully become part of the collective. The human brain just isn't compatible.
